 Defense - Guarding a player
See video demonstration

*Beginner teams should reinforce the use of the backboard.

Break down the mechanics of how to guard a player.  See video

Practice Drill
  1. Step and slide - Coach has the ball and will dribble side to side and front to back and the players will move in there defensive stance.
  2. Each player will be given an opportunity to guard their coach and stay in front of them using the proper technique.
  3. Pair each player up with someone with similar ability.  One player should have the ball and the other play defense.  Have them dribble slowly from one end of the court to the other with the defensive player staying in front of them.  Switch and let the other player have a turn on defense.
